Kanimbla, New South Wales
Julia & Adrian’s elopement was one of the wildest days I’ve had the pleasure of being part of. This elopement started almost 3 hours out of Sydney, on a hillside property in Kanimbla. The plan for the day was to get ready, do a first look, and then head to Lincoln’s Rock in Katoomba for a sunset ceremony and photoshoot… but with dark clouds looming overhead the rain threatened to wash out the day.
Despite the weather, Julia and Adrian’s excitement couldn’t be contained. Their first look was adorable and their small handful of friends and family were so vivacious it was impossible not to stay smiling. The clouds began to clear so we made the call to head to Katoomba for the ceremony. But upon arriving, another dark cloud appeared and the heavens opened up like never before. So back to the accommodation we went, still determined to make this day as special as possible.
Getting back to the house, everyone was hard at work decorating the veranda with an array of white wildflowers and leaves they had gathered from the side of the road on their way back.
Adrian’s sister was drenched but took charge of setting up fairy lights and making the foliage look magical.
The final curveball of the day came when the videographer’s car broke down on their way back and they had to get towed to the local repair shop!!! One of the couple’s friends was sent to the rescue and in the meantime, we took more portraits to make the most of the light.
Then at long last, the day came to its happy conclusion. As the hills turned blue, the fairy lights twinkled and the candles glowed, Julia and Adrian finally got to say I do!!!
All in all, it was such a whirlwind of a day, but such an absolute joy to be a part of. Days like this can easily go one of two ways, it all depends on the couple. So to see these two pull together and laugh at each new problem to solve together was really special. Take a look through the gallery and see for yourself!
